Beatriz grew up among the olive and almond trees of Toledo, Spain, and her love of trees and nature motivated her to get a doctorate in forest ecology. She is amazed by the magic of the Californian sequoia forests and the kaleidoscope colors of the Michigan fall, and she continues exploring the American wilderness together with her beloved husband. Johanna was born and grew up in Salinas, Puerto Rico. She graduated from Stella Márquez high school and earned an additional secretarial certification. She continued her studies at la Pontificia Universiadad Católica de Puerto Rico, where she earned her bachelor degree in education. Johanna worked for 10 years at Universal Career college in the small towns of Guayama and Coamo in Puerto Rico. Full Bio >>
Elaine Arias is an artist who studied Printmaking at Tyler School of Art. She works independently at Spiral Q Puppet Theater making art about community building with children. Recently she joined an artist collective in West Philly. On the weekends, she enjoys salsa dancing! Full Bio >>
Daniella was exposed to Spanish at a very young age. Both of her parents were born and raised in the Dominican Republic and decided to incorporate their traditions and language into their household. She has recently graduated from Arcadia University with a BA in early education and special education. Full Bio >>
Joan was born and raised in Puerto Rico until she was 10 years old. She came to the United States along with her mom Johanna and siblings eager to learn another language about 12 years ago. She graduated from Nueva Esperanza Academy Charter High School with High Honors in 2012. Full Bio >>
Erika is a former teacher and has a Masters degree in Elementary education from Saint Joseph’s University. She left teaching to become a full-time mom to her kids Hannah and Evan. Now that her children are in grade school, she wanted to start working again. Full Bio >>
Mi Casita Mascot and Therapy Dog
Rosie is the beloved mascot of Mi Casita. After working hard for her Good Canine Citizens test, Rosie Lamb was thrilled to on board as the Mi Casita Therapy Dog. Whether it’s a boo boo or missing a mommy, Rosie Lamb is there to provide comfort and support. When not working her day job, Rosie Lamb loves playing with her dog amigos in the dog park, going on long walks, and begging for human treats.
