Fort Worth Lead Teacher
My name is Jasmin, I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. My family is from El Salvador and I was taught Spanish at a young age.
When I was a young child I had speech and hearing delays, and had to receive speech therapy in English, while my parents spoke Spanish to me at home; which helped me become successful in learning two languages. This experience motivated me to pursue studies in speech-language pathology and help others that have communication challenges. I volunteered at the Child Study Center for over two years in a private school setting in helping children that have developmental disabilities in the classroom by being involved in their learning and social interactions. As I learned more about the field of speech-language pathology, I decided that I would like to go into bilingual speech-language pathology to provide therapy services in Spanish. I have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in speech-language pathology/audiology from the University of North Texas, and I would like to continue my studies to earn a master’s degree in bilingual speech-language pathology in the future.
I am thrilled to be part of the staff at Mi Casita, and excited help contribute to the learning experience of young children, as well as watch them grow and have fun as they gain new skills.
